Unfinished Tales

I'm still laboring through this one (and some say the Silmarillion is tough to get through!). One thing that might have helped is if I had take those darned notes on the Silmarillion. Many of the stories in Unfinished Tales make reference to stories in the Silmarillion, so unless you have a really good memory or really good notes, you spend the first few pages trying to figure out who this person even is.
One of the things I really like about it is that you get a feel for Tolkien's process as a writer. In his commentary within the book Christopher Tolkien explains various editorial notes and other changes to the text that were made as Tolkien revisted his unpublished tales.

Yes, I bought Unfinished Tales before starting the Silmarillion. Then I decided to read the Silmarillion first...lol so I won't be reading Unfinished Tales until after I'm done with that.
I finally brought my copy of Unfinished Tales, the Black Paperbag Harper Collins version!
Been debating the past few weeks which version of this book I should get as I want it to match the cover of my other LOTR Books (well, actually, the only LOTR books I owned was The Silmarillion & ROTK, rest was bought by my brother so technically isn't mine ). Will start reading as soon as I finish wrapping it.
Next on the menu: The Hobbit Special Box Edition (aka so I have my own book), History of Middle-Earth (still debating which cover to buy, especially that I'm currently most interested in the first few books only instead of all 13) and finally my own copy of LOTR (probably will get the 3 books ones instead of 1 and hardcover with illustrations ).
Hmm, so must know The Silmarillion well so as not to get lost while reading Unfinished Tales? Okay, think it's still a bit fresh in my mind so hope I'll not get lost too much.
