I know--it's a great costume, and I love how it looks like he's been completely living in the outfit forever. and you're right, the costume section of the extended DVD was really interesting- I enjoyed it a lot too

Wouldn't you just love to be able to browse that costume shop! And imagine getting ahold of some of their bolt ends! I shiver just thinking about it.
The details on all of the costumes were incredible, but the aging on Aragorn's costume was pretty impressive. I also like how Viggo insisted on taking care of and mending his own costume; that guy never ceases to amaze me. Was he fated for this role or what?

A costumer's dream come true...Well an LOTR costumer's dream at least. Yeah, I loved Viggo, he was absolutely perfect for Aragorn. They did a fantastic casting job with the whole movie, I felt like I was totally there, and that those people really lived there. It was great.
Getting back to costuming, lol, I think it'd be cool to make this outfit. Those detachable sleeves are pretty cool. Did anybody see the awesome detail on the sleeves that they showed in the DVD costuming section? I wonder if there's any pictures of it online...time to go hunting.
EDIT: Well, for any one that has seen the DVD costuming section, you'll be able to see where the sleeve detail is in this picture. It's very small though, and I haven't been able to find any better pictures. Keep hunting...

Either Elves are as impervious to dirt as death, or Legolas must have a pocketful of handy wipes.

Yeah! I saw that... I loved the way they worked with Viggo to make the costume comfortable for him and practical for what a Ranger would need...
It really worked...

Sarah, are you talking about the outer sleevs that are stitched on, or the faded blue-gray undersleeves with the smocking on the sleeve cap? Of course, both have incredible detail, but I really love the blue with the smocking. Like Ngila said, there are things about Aragorn's costume that hint at a finer life than the one he leads now.

Wow, it sounds like we're all posting just so our accounts aren't deleted...what a great way to run things, eh? Anyhoo, I did have a good idea if any of you want to make your own Aragorn costume. This concerns the elven brooches that the fellowship all wear. My idea was that the brooches could be easily made out of modeling clay (the kind you paint in the oven) and either ceramics paint or acrylic paint and varnish topcoat. The pin attachments could be found at nearly any craft store. Anyone else got any cool ideas? My bf and I are going to be Aragorn and Eowyn this halloween...we might even me nerdy enough to find some ppl and form our own fellowship!

Yes! You can do it that way.
Here's the one I made:

I have half a tutorial done... need to get on that. I got a bit distracted with all my Elf Armor junk though. *L*

I've almost every costume aragorn can be seen wearing in the movies. I think all I have left is the Coronation armor and I'll have them all. But let me tell you, it is NO easy task. Since I've started on this little project, I've spent somewhere around $900.00 to create all of them. But damn if it isn't worth it! I'll post pics as soon as I can.
